Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) is a membership or umbrella body for assessment schemes with the common aim of reducing both duplication and costs for both buyers and suppliers. Contractors do not join or become members of SSIP. It is the assessment schemes such as CHAS, Constructionline, and SMAS who are registered members of SSIP.
The first aim of SSIP is to reduce duplication and bureaucracy by eliminating unnecessary paperwork during Stage 1 (Pre-qualification) of the procurement process. This helps to streamline the procurement process and save time and resources for both clients and contractors.
